Need advice on a new sewing machine! Brother/Baby Lock or Viking?
Anna asked:
In search for a middle-of-the-road heavy duty sewing machine to replace the old one. Some embrodiery stitches ok, but my gosh! The prices out there now are so high! Trying to find the best value for no more than $2,000. Between the Brother-Baby Lock or White brand VS. the Viking brand... Anyone have expereince in this? Thank you in advance!!

It’s the embroidery stitches that are costing you so much.
I have a Pfaff Tiptronic that cost $700.00. I run it every single day and I love it. The only thing that’s missing is some kind of alarm that would let you know the bobbin thread is about to run out.

I have a Baby Lock Crafter’s Choice and it’s fine for me. I’ve made curtains, pillows, tote bags, pillow cases, throw blankets, Halloween costumes and hemmed jeans. I find that it’s a basic machine that works well and does well even through thick fabric. I don’t sew very often but it has and does all the basic stuff.
Good luck.

One thing I would suggest is visit different dealers and find a dealer that you feel comfortable with and that has a tech or easy access to one, then pick out a machine. I think all lines have something you would be comfortable with and that would do the job, and by picking a dealer who is going to value you as a customer and not try to sell you more than you need. Hope this helps
